These home-made rolls are super-quick to make as the dough doesn’t need to prove
- 250g wholemeal flour
- 250g plain flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 3 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 500ml buttermilk
- 2 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp porridge oats
- Heat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/Gas 6. In a bowl, mix the flours with the salt and bicarbonate of soda.
- Gently incorporate the buttermilk and knead the dough for a couple of mins.
- Dust a work surface with flour and form the dough into 12 balls. Place on a lined baking tray then snip a cross on the top of each. Brush with milk and sprinkle with porridge oats. Bake the rolls for 12-15 mins until golden.
