Ragu Advertorial

Here’s a quick, simple and super-tasty meal solution the whole family will love

Spaghetti Bolognese has long been a favourite family meal and, thanks to Ragu, you can pack your dish with authentic Italian flavours. Ragu Original Smooth Bolognese Sauce was developed in New York in 1937 by Mama Cantisano, who took the best ingredients she could get and combined them with her Italian passion and know-how to produce the sauces we know and love today, over 75 years on. Simply follow the recipe, below, to serve up a taste of Italy, just like Mama used to make.

Even more simple to serve is a pasta bake, thanks to a new range of sauces from Ragu. With these, there’s no need even to cook your pasta – simply add the sauce to dried pasta, add water and pop it in the oven to bake for an easy family meal. We particularly love the Creamy Tomato & Herb variety, which is enjoyed all over Italy, particularly at gatherings and celebrations and is a big Italian American favourite. Serves 4 ✷ Prep in 5 mins ✷ Cook in 15 mins

This simple recipe is tasty as it is. But you can pack in more of your five a day by adding onions, peppers, mushrooms and celery.

Place 500g minced beef in a saucepan over a medium heat and fry, stirring, for 5 mins or until lightly browned all over. Pour off any excess fat. Add 1 x 454g jar Ragu Original

Smooth Bolognese Sauce and bring to the boil, stirring occasionally. Simmer for 10 mins, ensuring the mince is cooked through and no pink meat remains. Meanwhile, cook 350g spaghetti, according to the packet instructions. Drain, place on plates and top with the Bolognese. Serve sprinkled with 50g Parmesan shavings and a few fresh basil leaves.
